Last week was super busy - I hardly had time to think! I spent most of last week getting the "front" of the house ready to have a Mennonite adult Bible study group share Shabbat evening with me. I got things organized (mostly) and put away (sort of), plus made challah (Sabbath bread), matzah ball soup, fish, Israeli salad. I petered out and just cut up fruit for dessert. It is nice that they came dressed in their sabbath clothes and that they are praying for more Jewish families to move here so we(I) can have a synagogue in town...LOL
I am still wiped out. And I still have the bedroom, study and exercise rooms to get organized. (Front = bathroom, kitchen, diningroom and livingroom).
Then One granddaughter spent Friday night with me, then she went home and two more came for Saturday night. I am exhausted.
Tomorrow will be busy with getting the visa application mailed off to Houston, and doing some financial organizing (closing a bank account - FEH on Bank of America!!!!) and - oh - I need clean underwear, so I suppose I need to do laundry.
Leaving our home...seeing the world again as a vagabond...finding a new place in life ~ where I fit in...and blogging random thoughts on the importance of this moment, the past and how they will build a new tomorrow.

OMG - Where Did the Month Go?
Well, I bought the house about a mile from my son's house at an auction for about 65% of it's assessed value. And have been working my fingers raw remodeling it. Three bedrooms, one bath, big kitchen, livingroom, attached garage and a little detached storage/workshop building with a nice size front and back yard.
Here are pictures of the house before I started working on it.
I have already removed the wallpaper in the livingroom and my bedroom. The carpets and padding has been removed from the entire house. I painted the livingroom a light taupe and replaced the carpet with medium oak laminate floors.
The room with the "duck" wallpaper now has mahogany laminate flooring. I did touch up the paint with the same taupe paint. I am leaving the wallpaper for the time being since I want to have a guest room that is useable, but removed the wall paper in the bedroom that will be mine. I have a light sage paint for the walls and the same mahogany flooring. I think it will match the floral bedding from our bedroom in SLO.I did buy a new bedroom set, but will be using the matress that Tuviya bought for our honeymoon. *sigh* I really wish he was here to share the rush from getting this house in order.
"Sailboat" wallpaper room is going to be the yoga/exercise and sewing room. I expect to have the floor done in there before I go to Florida to visit Laynee and Marina for the first week of January.
I am thinking that I will be working on the house until I leave for Israel and India. Rabbi set the ticket for the month of April.
Other adventures:
1. I found a group of paranormal investigators that are based about 25 miles away. They are planning a group investigation the first week of February. That should be interesting.
2. Looked into the synagogue in Joplin. They are Reform, but it is the only synagogue within the 50 mile radius of the house. They will start having services on Saturday mornings twice a month and have Friday night services every week. There is a Sisterhood that meets every month.
3. Shopping for "stuff" to make my house a home. The POD of stuff is in the garage. I am hoping the stupid, mutant crickets stay out of my stuff.
4. I have been cooking for the grandkids and my oldest granddaughter has lost about 7 pounds, good since she has been trying to lose weight. We found out that she has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and she is a little heavier than she needs to be.
Oh - and obviously I got over the bronchitis and sinus infections. I am taking allergy meds regularly now, especially with the cleaning and painting projects.
Off to go get "family pictures" done with Anil's little tribe.

Song of the Week - Light a Candle by Sarit Hadad
Lyrics with English translation:
NADLIK BEYACHAD NER (LIGHT A CANDLE)
Lif'amim nidmeh she'en tikvah
Vehakol nir'e kol kach afel velo yad'ua
Haprachim od lo parchu
bagan uvasadeh
Uva'erev rak maka haru'ach
Az bou venadlik beyachad ner, ner
(Translation: Some times it seems that there is no hope
And every thing looks so dark and unknown
The flowers have not yet blossomed
in the garden and in the field
In the evening only the wind blows
So come on and we will light a candle together)
Chorus:
Light a candle
Light a candle with me
A thousand candles in the dark
Will open our hearts
Lifamim nir'e shehamachar
Lo yavi po nechama labechi velatza'ar
Vehalayla ha'aroch nimshach bli havtacha
Veha'afela chada kata'ar
Az bou venadlik beyachad ner, ner
(Translation: Sometimes it seems that tomorrow
won't come to comfort the crying and the sorrow.
And the long night continues with no promise
And the darkness is as sharp as a blade
So come on and we will light a candle together)
Light a candle
Light a candle with me
A thousand candles in the dark
Will open our hearts
Light all the candles
Let's light the candles every where
Just look at me and take my hand
The heat of love will glow again
(Translation from Hebrew Songs database at hebrewsongs.com)
I HATE Nose Sprays!!!! Oh, and Happy Hanukkah!
Seasonal Holiday Alert for tonight night. Got the candles and chocolate gelt in Los Angeles, CA; books on fish hatchery (instead of gefilte fish) in Multonomah, OR; dreidels and stickers in Colorado Springs, CO; and Potatoes, eggs and Bisquick in Joplin, MO. Totally American Hanukkah coming up in Oswego, KS.
Just so everyone knows that I am NOT out partying and ignoring The Blog Followers, I have been to TWO clinics since I got to Kansas. Ugh! They both told me that the allergies are bad, and that I need to do prescription Nose Sprays, decongestants, inhailed steroids for asthma AND the ubiquitous saline sinus rinses. Oh, and for good measure, a Z-Pac and cough syrup with codeine. **GAG**
There is some good news, in spite of the TMI Health Update. I went to an auction with my son and daughter-in-law and bought a house. It should close escrow before this time next week. Anil saw the poster for the auction when we were walking around town. (He is diabetic and Thanksgiving was YAKKY for his blood sugar!) So we drove by the house. It is Light Green with a dark Green metal roof and trim, Tuviya's favorite color. We were able to look at the inside and saw that it is VERY cute. It was owned by an elderly widow who traveled A LOT, took pride in her home and moved to Oregon to be close to her kids. (Probably what people will say about me when I am 90+, LOL) It is 1170 sq feet, 3 BR, 1 BA with an attached garage, small detached workroom and large front and back yard. Perfect for my meditation path and veggie garden. The workroom will either be a yoga studio (there is a heater in it) or a classroom to teach the grandbabies Hebrew and "stuff". And I got it all for $33K. Hanukkah Present from my Honey...*S*
Pictures are Here...
All of the curtains stay (YEAH!) but the junk in the pictures was sold at the auction, so it should be pretty clean. There are a few small fixes that need done, like the carpet in the livingroom and bedroom needing pulled out since *obviously* my allergies have decided to be a problem here in TotoLand. The Central Heating worked really well, and I have been using my electric blankets here at the Haunted Hotel (my son's mansion - he has a timer on the tv and I woke up to the tv being on at 2am after I *know* I turned it off!)
I should have everything settled in so that I can visit friends in Tennessee and Florida at the end of the month for a couple weeks before the weather gets really bad here.
Off to make soup, latkes and hot chocolate for my grandbabies tonight for the first night of Hanukkah!

Song of the Week -
It's All Coming Back to Me Now ~ MeatLoaf
Its All Coming Back To Me Now
Songwriters: Steinman, Jim;
There were nights when the wind was so cold
That my body froze in bed if I just listened
To it right outside the window
There were days when the sun was so cruel
That all the tears turned to dust and
I just knew my eyes were drying up forever
I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I can't remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I have ever made
But when you touch me like this
(Touch me like this)
And you hold me like that
(Hold me like that)
I just have to admit
That it's all coming back to me
When I touch you like this
(Touch you like this)
And I hold you like that
(Hold you like that)
It's so hard to believe
But it's all coming back to me now
It's all coming back
It's all coming back to me now
There were moments of gold and there were flashes of light
There were things I'd never do again
But then they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than any laws allow, maybe baby
If I kiss you like this
(Kiss you like this)
And if you whisper like that
(Whisper like that)
It was lost long ago
But it's all coming back to me
If you want me like this
(If you want me like this)
And if you need me like that
(If you need me like that)
It was dead long ago
But it's all coming back to me
It's so hard to resist
And it's all coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it's all coming back to me now
But you were history with the slamming of the door
And I made myself so strong again somehow
And I never wasted any of my time on you since then
But if I touch you like this
(Touch you like this)
And if you kiss me like that
(Kiss me like that)
It was so long ago
But it's all coming back to me
If you touch me like this
(Touch me like this)
And if I kiss you like that
(Kiss you like that)
It was gone with the wind
But it's all coming back to me now
It's all coming back
It's all coming back to me now
There were moments of gold and there were flashes of light
There were things we'd never do again

When you see me like this
(See me like this)
And when I see you like that
(See you like that)
Then we see what we want to see
All coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barley recall
But it's all coming back to me now
If you forgive me all this
(Forgive me all this)
If I forgive you all that
(Forgive you all that)
We forgive and forget
And it's all coming back to me now
It's all coming back to me now
(When I touch you like this)
It's all coming back to me now

Apologies to my Loyal Fans...LOL
I have had THE WORST sinus infection and bronchitis that is just kicking my boo-tay! I have been on antibiotics - and feeling better, but with the allergies and wind, my body is just not cooperating. NOTE TO SELF: drink more water when traveling, and less coffee.
I have written a couple things that need tweeked and have about 30 pics to go through and load up here. When I get to Kansas (yup, following the Yellow Brick, er, KS400 to Oswego), I plan to hole up in my room for a couple days and get this all updated and pretty. And get well, too. After Hanukkah (I found a hanukkiyah - 9 branched candle holder - at a local store - Yeah me!), I am hoping to get to Tennessee and Florida to visit Dana and Michelle (TN) and Laynee, Marina and Sheila (FL).
The Israel trip is in the final stages of planning. Rabbi has the credit card and is charging the plane tickets today and will do my reservation for the apartment as well. Looks like I will be in Jerusalem from April 1-29, then off to India for a week (Mumbai), then back to Tel Aviv for three days of museum hopping before returning to LAX and then back to Kansas - or somewhere. I still have TWO sisters in Nebraska and a brother in Wyoming waiting for a visit. And a bunch of friends east of Iowa that would also like to see me. I am just TOO durn loveable...LOL
Now Tina (T2) is taking me out to Mimi's Cafe for dinner.

GPS Girl's Detour to Vail Colorado
Y'all are gonna think I'm nuts. (Those of you with empirical evidence, please put you hands down!)
The GPS decided it didn't like the crappy snow and ice. She kept telling me to take exits in Vail. The frist time, I took the exit, re-programmed her and started out again. I ignored her the second exit, which was a Rest Area. Then, with visibility to about 25 feet, she tricked me. She turned me around and I was going the wrong way on the freeway. For those unbelievers, I, during the snow storm, pulled over TWICE and I called my son, Anil and he HEARD GPS Girl tell me to take the Vail exits. Twice.
So I did. And now I will be stuck here until around noon tomorrow, according to the hotel clerk. Lucky me, I had a free night on hotels.com. So - Holiday Inn in Vail for $50. SWEET, and they have an indoor spa, workout room and laundry so I can wash all my clothes. Also, in room massage...it was a hectic drive arguing with the GPS. She is such a brat. She just wanted to stay in a nice hotel. She really loved the Holiday Inn in Sacramento, I guess. Maybe when I go to sleep, she will be texting with the phone or tweeting with the tube. It is a big, sleek flat screen. Dunno. Who can figure out machines these days?
Sucks to be me, but - heh, you are all in your nice warm houses enjoying yourself. I should make the best of today, right?
Off to get hot chocolate and pop corn and warn up by the fireplace in the lobby...
